Before I was lucky enough to have the job that I have now, I worked at a lot of bagel stores in Queens starting from when I was like 14. I used to get up at like 4 or 5am and ride my skate board down Little Neck Parkway to Northern Blvd and work at First Class Bagels until like 8 and then go to school afterwards. There was always something that kind of bugged me in the employee to customer relationship. I’ve brought this up to a lot of people and everyone always tells me I’m crazy so I’m pretty sure this is just me but… I don’t think that “you’re welcome” has a place in the employee to customer situation. Same goes for waitresses and customers. I think the polite thing to do is for both people to say “thank you”. For instance, if your waitress brings you your bill after a delicious meal at Denny’s or whatever. Let’s just say you had the Moons Over My Hammy, for arguments sake. They drop the bill off at the table you should say “thank you” for the service and meal and they should reply with “thank you” as in thank you for your business. I think either for you to say thank you for the service and the waitress to say your welcome for the service or for the waitress to say thank you for your business and you say you’re welcome are both really rude. But like I said, I’m pretty sure I’m the only person who even notices.

 And I thought I was the only one with this theory.  It is proven (in my life experience) tips are better if you say thank you because it makes you seem greatful instead of saying your welcome and possibly coming off stuck up or ungreatful.
